Will my insurance pay for treatment?

Insurance Companies: The Vein Help Clinic is in network with most insurance companies, and we accept Medicare.

Insurance reimbursements depend on your particular insurance company, as well as, the terms of your individual policy. Not only is each policy different, the philosophy of each insurance company is also different. After completing your physical evaluation and diagnosis process, if treatment for your condition is recommended, we will gladly submit a claim for you. Each insurance company is slightly different. What one company may approve, another one may not - it depends on the agreement your employer has w/ the insurance company, and the insurance company itself.  Once the claim has been submitted for your insurance company’s approval, most insurance companies allow up to 30 days for their approval process to be completed.  Generally, if the ultrasound of your veins is abnormal, and you are having a medical problem (tired, achy, heavy, pain, swelling,  skin changes, leg ulcers, etc.,) most insurance companies will eventually approve the recommended treatments. Also, treatment claims for more severe conditions, like leg ulcers, may actually be approved faster than usual

Pre treatment requirements: Most insurance companies require a “trial of conservative therapy” for 3-6 months prior to approving treatment. Usually conservative therapy means wearing prescription, surgical grade, class 2, compression stockings for 3-6 months prior to treatment approval. Even though there is no evidenced based medicine to support this requirement, they do it anyway, and you must comply with this requirement for payment authorization Compression stockings are available for purchase at The Vein Help Clinic. They are also available at most medical supply stores.  Usually, the patient is responsible for the costs of compression stockings, however, under special circumstances, such as DVT or lymphedema, certain insurances companies may offer compression stockings as a covered benefit.  Most require photographs of your venous condition be submitted with the treatment request/claim. We will take these photos on your consultation visit.

Cosmetic treatments: No insurance company will pay for cosmetic treatments. Cosmetic treatments may be performed at the time of medical treatment; however, they must be paid for separate from your medical claim.
